The Aéro-Club du Dauphiné flight school is recognised as a Declared Training Organisation (DTO) by EASA, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency.

As a certified DTO, the Aéro-Club du Dauphiné offers a range of flight training programmes, with theory and practical training for the private pilot licence (PPL) or the light aircraft pilot licence (LAPL), as well as additional ratings for mountain flying (wheels and skis), aerobatics and night flying.

Competency-based
training

The ACD's DTO has enough aircraft, flight instructors (FI) and classrooms to train around a hundred student pilots a year. Flight training takes place at Le Versoud (LFLG) and Grenoble Alpes Isère (LFLS), on Robin DR 400/120, DR 400/160, DR 401 (Eco-flyer), D140 Mousquetaire, Cap 10 (aerobatics) and Savannah S (microlight). All programmes use a competency-based training and assessment method, in line with the training programmes approved by the FFA (French Aeronautical Federation).

Competency-based training is a teaching method founded on mastering the competencies (skills and knowledge) needed to perform real-world tasks.

Key competencies

  • Managing and controlling an aircraft
  • Planning and following flight paths
  • Situational awareness
  • Workload management
  • Communication
  • Threat and error management
