Microlight training
Become
a microlight pilot
Training for the microlight pilot licence has a theory part and a practical part.
Theory
- To obtain the microlight pilot licence you must pass the theory exam, held at the FFPLUM exam centres.
- Reference books, online courses and tests, the Wednesday evening classes, your instructor's support and your own commitment will prepare you for it, alongside the practical training.
Practical training
- It takes place in dual control, with your instructor, on board our microlights.
- Starting with no flying experience, you will have the pleasure of flying solo after about 15 to 25 hours of dual instruction. This is the big moment of your first solo, which opens the way to flying alone on board, supervised by an instructor who stays on the ground.
- Then comes a phase of learning navigation in dual control, with flights to other aerodromes (Challes-les-Eaux, Saint-Jean-en-Royans), as well as to “microlight strips” (there are 600 in France!).
- When you are ready and have passed your theory exam, you will become a licensed pilot and you will be able to fly solo, unsupervised, anywhere in France, and even abroad (Italy, for example)!
French-language radiotelephony qualification
As radio is compulsory at Le Versoud aerodrome, radio communication is part of the basic training.
Passenger-carrying qualification
- Once licensed, the new pilot begins a phase of self-training to gain autonomy and flying experience.
- At the end of this phase, which may be longer or shorter, the pilot takes another flight test with one of our instructors to obtain the passenger-carrying qualification.
- Sharing the pleasure of flight with a passenger is a sublime experience! But the pilot must be aware of the responsibility it brings.
- Carrying passengers is not a test of skill. It is a test of aeronautical maturity.
