The ACD
at Moirans

The ACD's very first aeroplane, a Potez 36. On the right is Marcel Collot, the pioneer of the mountain landing technique.

The Aéro-Club du Dauphiné was founded in 1928, when touring aviation was beginning to develop. Its first president was Mr Piquet-Damesne, followed later by Mr Biessy. Its first act was to create a (small) airfield by renting farmland on the Moirans plain. With the help of the city of Grenoble and the Isère département, this airfield became Grenoble Airport. Its next step was to buy aircraft, eventually building up a fleet of 9 (Potez 36, 46 and 58).

What came next: the ACD at Grenoble-Eybens (1936-1967),
